Myspace, website and social media platform that was the most popular social network from 2005 to 2008. Myspace is a free, advertising-supported service that allows users to create Web “profile” pages that feature photographs, express their interests, and, most importantly, link to other people’s profiles.

Ultimately, a failure to focus on what its community wanted and the usability of the site saw users leave for other platforms. Despite multiple attempts to rebrand, MySpace has never since come close to recapturing what it once had.

2009–2016: Decline and sale by News Corporation. On April 19, 2008, Facebook overtook MySpace in Alexa rankings. In May 2009, Facebook surpassed MySpace in the number of unique U.S. visitors. From that point, Myspace saw a consistent loss of membership.

Spacehey (stylized as SpaceHey) is an English-language online social network operated by the German company tibush GmbH and headquartered in Pfullingen. Founded in 2020 by Anton Röhm, the project serves as a homage to social media platform MySpace during its peak in the mid-2000s.
